Artisanal Dessert Wines From Oregon

Madrone Mountain is a boutique producer of artisanal dessert wines in the Applegate Valley of Southern Oregon, an alpine enclave high in the Siskiyou Mountains just north of the California border.  To our knowledge, we are the only winery in Oregon to specialize in the making of this kind of wine—fortified red dessert wines and late harvested whites.  Certainly, we are one of very few wineries in the country to make only sweet wines.  So, why this ‘road less traveled,’ you ask?  Ah, thereby hangs a tale!

Madrone Mountain makes sweet wines as a mission, never an afterthought, and when you taste them they will surprise you.  Our Mundo Novo and Mundo Velho fortified reds are inspired by Port, but they are very different from Port.  Our Água da Neve is made in the tradition of the great Eisweins of Germany, but it is not Icewine.  Taking inspiration from these great wines, we crafted something we feel is different and uniquely Oregonian.  Our wines express balance and grace.  They are nuanced and surprisingly food friendly.  They taste of the soil and, we hope, of the love that went into making them.

Sweet wines have an important place at the table of contemporary American cuisine.  Our wines are earning that place one taste, one bottle, one vintage at a time.  Taste them for yourself.  We think you will agree.
